“I drink to make other people more interesting.” – Ernest Hemingway

Inspired by one of our favorite American heroes, the Hemingway Daiquiri originated in Cuba at the writer’s famous haunt, El Floridita. Whiling away much of the 30s and 40s on a writing hiatus, Ernest steadfastly believed “if you want to know about a culture, spend a night in its bars.”

A favorite amongst many throughout the hottest days of Summer, we pay homage to both the drink and the man with plenty of grapefruit juice, lime, ice, and a twist of lavender.

2 oz. Savannah Spirits Silver Rum
.75 oz Lime Juice
.5 oz Grapefruit Juice
.5 oz Maraschino Liqueur
.25 oz Lavender Simple Syrup
Grapefruit Slice
Lime Wedge
Rosemary Sprig

Pour Savannah Spirits Silver Rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, and lavender simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice, strain, and serve with a slice of grapefruit, a wedge of lime, and a spring of rosemary for garnish.

Lavender Simple Syrup: Combine 1 C water, 1 C white sugar, and 1 tbsp of lavender blossoms in small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 minute, then remove from heat and let syrup steep, approx. 30 minutes.
